Naomi Inwe is an innovative 17-year-old from Lagos, Nigeria turning her community’s plastic pollution problem into an opportunity through her Trash to Treasure initiative, which has empowered over 500 public school students.
Born and raised in Ajegunle — a low income community in Lagos — she is committed to empowering young people in marginalized communities to tackle environmental challenges. Naomi’s work has gained both international and national recognition. She was recognized as a 2025 National Geographic Slingshot Awardee, an Ashoka Young Change maker, and became the First Nigerian Young Scientists for Africa Scholar — a competitive scholarship to attend the London International Youth Science Forum.
These are a testament to her creative thinking and dedication to sustainability. Passionate about the intersection of technology and environmental justice, she also co-founded Dattego, an AI-powered waste management app.
Naomi plans to continue her path of creating smart, innovative solutions to address pressing environmental issues.
