Jane is a wildlife and conservation veterinary surgeon with extensive experience both in the UK and internationally. She graduated from the University of Cambridge Veterinary School and been Head of the Veterinary Department at Howletts and Port Lympne Wild Animal Parks in the UK for over 20 years.
In this role, Jane leads the veterinary team and oversees the veterinary aspects of the organisation’s conservation programmes worldwide. Her responsibilities encompass the veterinary care of two of Europe’s largest zoological collections, Howletts and Port Lympne, as well as conservation projects in West Africa, Indonesia and Madagascar.
Jane has broad experience in the husbandry, medicine and surgery of wild mammal species, together with particular expertise in disease risk analysis for conservation translocations and releases, and in field veterinary techniques relevant to international conservation programmes.
Jane is also a Veterinary Director of Wildlife Vets International and the Wild Tiger Health Project. Alongside the rest of her department, Jane teaches the conservation medicine rotation to veterinary students of the Royal Veterinary College.
