Will is an astrophysicist at UCL and Director of Orbyts (the multi-award-winning STEM Inclusivity and Education Programme).
Orbyts creates inspirational long-term partnerships between scientists and schools, providing students with relatable science role models while empowering them through their own original research projects. The programme profoundly impacts science inclusivity, directly increasing post-16 uptake by students from historically-excluded groups. Our ‘research with a relatable role-model’ structure of the programme has supported around 300 school children to (co)author scientific publications. Our impact on widening access to education was recognised through the 2021 NEON awards, the ERC Inspire award 2022 and through grants/partnerships with the Ogden Trust, UK Space Agency, Royal Society and STFC.
