Tim Carter

Tim Carter is a Chartered Engineer, focused on data and software engineering and supporting young people to get involved in the world of STEM.

He is a recognised European Engineer (EUR ING) and Chartered Engineer (CEng) in the UK, working as a Technical Director on data and software engineering projects. He has a passion for systems architecture and engineering, as well as open data and knowledge sharing, graph data and analytics, and systems integration.

As a STEM Ambassador, Tim enjoys working closely with young people to promote all aspects of STEM and wider engineering concepts, linking this to the idea of sustainable engineering and its place within the UN Sustainable Development Goals. He also brings this passion and enthusiasm to his role within Scouting in the UK, volunteering as a uniformed leader, as well as supporting at a district level predominantly on data process and governance.

Tim was a co-author on research published by the UK and Canadian National Commissions for UNESCO in 2022, promoting the use of UNESCO Sites as drivers for sustainable development, providing expertise around data and information management, knowledge sharing, and data/geospatial tools. He is working closely with the UK National Commission for UNESCO to now implement some of these data strategies and tools with pilot sites, alongside discovery exercises with national stakeholders within the UK Government and Devolved Administrations.
