Mike Metcalfe

Mike Metcalfe is a dedicated Physics educator based in North London, where he also serves as a Manager for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. With a Masters in Educational Leadership, Mike is passionate about shaping the future of science education by mentoring the next generation of physics teachers and technicians.

Deeply committed to environmental sustainability, Mike actively collaborates with mental health specialists on projects that connect wellbeing with ecological responsibility. His work bridges the gap between scientific understanding and environmental action, inspiring students and colleagues alike to engage with the pressing challenges of our time.

Mike has collaborated with the Institute of Physics and the University of York Science Education Group, contributing to national efforts to enhance physics education.

With a growing focus on the intersection of physics and environmental sustainability, Mike is particularly interested in how physics education can empower students to engage with the climate crisis and other global challenges through scientific understanding and critical thinking.
