With a background in both scientific research and classroom teaching Meryl is now an enthusiastic communicator on climate, nature and sustainability education. Working with young people brings the need for change into sharp focus and she enjoys supporting them to become changemakers.
Alongside her work as a consultant in environmental education, Meryl is a coordinator for the Ministry of Eco Education, a facilitator for the Young Green Briton Challenge and a Climate Ambassador with STEM Learning. She is also a TeachSDG Ambassador raising awareness of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and was one of the first UN Accredited Climate Change teachers, speaking at COP25 on the need to embed climate and sustainability throughout the curriculum to ensure young people have the knowledge and skills needed for sustainable futures.
Over the years Meryl has completed a doctorate in environmental geochemistry, a post-doctorate with the Natural History Museum and a PGCE in Chemistry. She has written articles and made several media appearances to raise awareness of the urgency and scale of action we need to address the climate crisis and believes education is key to a just transition. Outside of work she lives on a smallholding and likes to sit down to break bread with people.
