Dr Ed Turner

Dr Ed Turner is Curator of Insects at the University Museum of Zoology, Cambridge and head the Insect Ecology Group in the Department of Zoology.

His research investigates ways that ecosystems can be managed to benefit biodiversity and associated ecosystem functions, with a focus on large-scale experimental approaches.

In SE Asia, he collaborated with the oil palm industry to develop more sustainable cultivation practices. In the UK, he works with the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire Wildlife Trust to investigate ways that fragmented reserves can be managed to support butterfly species in the face of climate change.

Thegroup also works with schools to investigate more about the biodiversity found in school environments. He is very keen to help advise on projects related to biodiversity and human interactions with the natural world.
