Katie Hadlow

I am a primary school teacher with 28 years of experience teaching across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in Kent and Hampshire. While my educational background is in maths and science, I have led a range of primary curriculum subjects throughout my career.

More recently, I have served as Sustainability Lead at a junior school in Kent, where I played a key role in securing both a Green School Award and the Primary Trailblazer Award. My work has included leading multiple sustainability action initiatives, collaborating with Kent Wildlife Trust education projects and contributing to The Royal Society’s biodiversity project in partnership with Simon Langton Girls’ School. I have also actively communicated best practices with other primary schools to strengthen collaborative sustainability efforts across the region.

I have worked closely with advisors from Let’s Go Zero to develop and implement impactful climate action plans and have supported the progression and mapping of Eco education across the school, enriching pupils’ learning through hands-on environmental study.

In addition to my teaching and sustainability roles, I have led the Geography curriculum for over six years, integrating environmental and global-awareness themes to enhance learning. Earlier in my career, I partnered with the University of Winchester through the SCITT programme, supporting trainee teacher and mentor development, and contributed to research projects in creative writing, providing both practical classroom insight and subject expertise.
