I am a researcher in forest management and planning at the University of Milan, where I study simulation models to support sustainable forest management, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and the impact of natural disturbances on European temperate forests. My research focuses on understanding forest dynamics and developing adaptive management strategies that enhance forest resilience, carbon sequestration, and biodiversity conservation.
Beyond my research, I am actively involved in teaching and science communication. I believe that bridging the gap between scientific knowledge and society is crucial for informed decision-making, and I work to make complex environmental issues accessible to a broader audience. In recognition of my contributions, Nature named me one of the 11 top emerging scientists worldwide in 2018, highlighting my work in forest ecology and sustainability.
I am a member of the Italian Society of Silviculture and Forest Ecology (SISEF), where I coordinate the communication working group, and the Ecological Society of America (ESA). Additionally, I serve as the president of Climate Media Center Italia, an organization dedicated to enhancing science-based communication on climate change.
As the author of La resilienza del bosco (Mondadori, 2019), I have explored how forests respond to climate change and disturbances, emphasizing their role in shaping a more sustainable future. My work, which combines cutting-edge research with a commitment to public engagement, aims to develop practical solutions for resilient forests in a changing world.
